Beta

Railbuddies is currently in beta. As a result you may encounter issues while using Railbuddies. If you spot any of these, please let us know!

Railbuddies currently supports the latest versions of all the major browsers (Internet Explorer, Firefox, Chrome, Safari and Opera). We are adding in support for older browsers gradually.

The idea

Railbuddies is developed by a young, up and coming web development company called Urban Scribble.

Members of Urban Scribble have regularly had to commute or take trains to meetings over the years and have had to endure the somewhat stale atmosphere between commuters.

We have also had to put up with not really knowing where your train is, not knowing why it is late and not knowing any body on it.

Railbuddies aims to change all of that!

Using a range of cutting edge technologies and data feeds, we have put together Railbuddies to try and make our daily commutes and train journeys a far more enjoyable and pleasurable experience.

We have put together a more in detailed guide on our How It Works page

The following provides a quick overview:

  • Easily find the train that you travel on and add yourself as a traveller.
  • Automatically receive alerts when you 'check in' to your train during the travelling times of the train.
  • Find fellow train users easily and see if they are 'checked in'.
  • Find out what is happening on the train ahead of time (if you catch it after its origin).
  • Find out exactly where the train is using our clever location update feature. This works by getting the location from 'checked in' users geo-location enabled devices. You may never have to wonder where your train is again!
  • Find out why your train is really late, from real time updates from onboard travellers.
  • Post on fellow commuter profiles and train and station profiles.

We feel all of the features above, along with many planned future features will really make a positive impact on how we commute and travel on the railways.

We hope you agree!
